23 more hours to 2012.
I just can't wait for this year to be over.
But I gotta remember there's no running away from everything.
I think one of my flaws is getting so emotionally/mentally attached to a lot of things.
I put in the effort and then I get let down. Most of the time.
New Year's Resolutions.
Nothing specific I guess.
Learn not to care so much.
Expect less out of others.
Because in the end I find that disappointment is inevitable.
My rationale is that the less I care and the lower my expectations are, the less disappointed I'll be.
Oh and also, I'm gonna be collecting CDs.
And by that I mean actually buying them.
Figured they're gonna be extinct soon so might as well save some of the good ones.
Already started my collection about a week ago.
I'll probably be visiting HMV on a regular basis depending on how much I've saved.
Maybe twice a month?
I don't know my dad has this subtle way of inspiring me, it's so weird.
I mean, he managed to save some of the music from his generation and let me hear it.
So maybe I'll do the same (:

Since Christmas is technically over and I haven't made any sort of dedication whatsoever, here's a belated post.
I kinda miss the anticipation that came with Christmas, what happened to that?
What happened to begging our parents to let us open our presents a day earlier?
Or staying up till midnight to open them instead?
It's really sad, no one does all this anymore.
Guess it's all part of growing up.
Well, under some particularly peculiar circumstances, I've received not one, but two of each x'mas gift I've got.
2 pairs of average-quality earphones,
2 t-shirts,
2 wallets.
And they were all from different relatives, no one told the other what each one was getting me.
I am officially creeped out.
But grateful nevertheless.
I really like this song.
Was planning on holding out till x'mas so I could re-record a uke cover with a friend,
but I guess it never happened. :/
Merry belated Christmas.

I think I get it now.
The Beach didn't just focus on the pursuit of paradise,
but also the aspect of secrecy.
I guess some things have to remain a secret,
for it to be fully enjoyed in that sense.
Some things are just made that way.
A place, for example.
The Beach.
It was understood that the people working on their farms couldn't be as productive as they could be when more tourists/travellers arrived on the island.
"No more people," they warned.
They relied on them to be discreet about the island.
Also, if you think about it,
I'm sure if you found someplace really serene and tranquil,
you won't exactly want it to be bustling with hundreds of people or anything like that right?
You'd want it to remain as peaceful as possible to retain/preserve its original beauty.
I guess it doesn't just apply to places huh.

Just watched The Beach.
Completely.
Not just bits and parts of it like in Bali.
Disturbing idea, the pursuit of paradise.
To what lengths exactly do people go to in order to attain it?
Really makes me wonder.
It's disturbing the way the movie portrayed it,
but somehow that makes it all the more intriguing.
I've yet to finish reading the book though.
In other news,
ever since I mentioned something about getting part-time jobs in front of my parents,
they won't get off my back about it.
My mom even went to her colleagues to ask about it.
Part of me wants to do it for the money,
but the other part of me just can't be bothered.
December's halfway through anyway so it's not like I wanna work till next year.

Back. Wasn't much of a holiday actually.
Didn't really enjoy myself much if I'm to be honest.
Granted, the sights were to die for.
But other than that?
Meh.
I feel I should get a job but I'm probably not going to,
I can't really be bothered and I don't exactly know where to look.
Need to find something to occupy myself with for the time being.
As usual, everything's pretty bleak, just like it used to be.
